#RavsRecipes: Feel Better Broth
A few years ago, I was visiting family in Texas over Christmas. I was pumped to see all of my friends and family, and planned several outings. Unfortunately, my immune system didn't cooperate. Between the massive climate differences in Oregon and south Texas, a long plane ride, and too many late nights, my body revolted. I woke up Christmas morning with a throat that felt coated in razor blades and a head full of cotton.
I was sick.
It was also Christmas Day. Oh, AND I WAS PREGNANT, which means that none of the regular remedies would do.
I foraged in my mother-in-law's pantry and fridge for anything I could use for a home remedy. I came up with chicken broth, fresh parsley, fresh garlic, and green onion. I made a quick brew and sipped it all day long. And guess what? I felt better. My congestion waned, my throat was soothed and my energy increased with every cup I drank.
I came home and shared this little cold brew with my office mates. They were all struggling with the same old junk an dI knew just how to help them feel better. the change was remarkable.
From there, I modified and tweaked the recipe, depending on what I was experiencing and what sounded good.
So, here is a list of ingredients you can choose from to make your own immune boosting, cold-soothing Feel Better Broth. Always heat the broth first, and add denser veggies and herbs first to soften. Add all green things and acv/citrus last, just before drinking.
